History
Colony Oaks Condominiums
One of the first “out-of-the-ground” projects by Murray Construction
Murray Construction was formed in 1978 by Don Murray as D.B. Murray Construction, and incorporated in 1981 under its current name, Murray Construction Company of Monroe, Inc. Under the guidance of Don Murray, and brother, Ted Murray, Murray Construction experienced a steady growth of sales volume and satisfied clients.
In 2001, State Utility Contractors acquired Murray Construction via purchase of certain assets. Since being purchased, we have thrived and continued building on our foundation of quality construction and expertise.
Murray Construction has grown into an aggressive, dependable, full-service company capable of effectively performing as a member of a design-build team or of competing in the bid market. The Company blends the capabilities of thoroughly seasoned construction veterans, the knowledge of engineering concepts, good quality workmanship with attention to detail, hard work, and honesty to see that the best dollar value is realized and to assure customer satisfaction with the end product.
Company Attributes
Murray Construction is a wholly owned subsidiary of State Utility Contractors. As an intermediate size General Contractor, we are able to provide our customers with both individual attention and the knowledge that we have sound financial backing. Each project is important to us and receives individual care, not simply a corporate face. Our goal is to form long-term relationships with each of our clients. Approximately 75% of our projects are for repeat customers. Our ultimate goal is to complete every project on time and within budget.
Murray Construction has solid experience in a variety of building markets including:
Healthcare, Commercial/Retail, Industrial, Government, Manufacturing and Religious.
We are able to provide Design/Build and Engineering Services. Our work is a mix of both Out of the Ground and Up-fit/Renovation. As a member of State Utility’s Corporate Group we can jointly provide large site development services.
Our management team provides an honest, diligent approach to design and estimating, provides clear and concise communication during all phases of construction, strives to meet all commitments and endeavors to meet the needs of the client. We are able to provide high quality workmanship on our project through our “hands-on” management style and with a talented, hardworking, stable workforce.
As a representative of our clients we maintain neat, organized jobsites and promote good relations with project neighbors. We have an impressive safety program to protect both the public and individuals associated with the project.
Mission Statement
To be fair, honest, hardworking, to keep promises and commitments, to exhibit a good and agreeable attitude.
To furnish our clients with a sound value, high quality projects, and to pursue a fair profit in return.
To serve the best interests of our clients, to be perceived as capable and eager to provide the solutions to current and future construction needs.
To maintain our reputation for excellence through quality workmanship, attention to detail, and by being a good corporate citizen.
To have a genuine interest in our employees, by providing a safe workplace with the opportunity for training and advancement.
Bonding
We currently have an aggregate bonded work program in excess of $ 200 million, with a single project limit in the $ 75 million range. We have maintained an excellent relationship with one bonding company and agent since our company’s inception.
Safety & Substance Abuse Programs
Our safety program has the full attention of every employee, beginning with the president. The strong safety program we have for new employees is mandatory regardless of position within the company. Our project superintendents or our company safety officer conducts at least weekly “tailgate” safety meetings and routine, daily site safety inspections. We maintain an active and ongoing alcohol and substance abuse program, and we require pre-employment and random drug testing of all employees.
